Curatorial note
Critical reading
David Dzagnidzé's work is characterized by a free figurative style that explores the human body as a space of transformation. His oeuvre, situated on the border between figuration and abstraction, develops a unique universe recognizable by the intensity of color and the presence of organic forms. Through his sensitive watercolors, he invites an intimate and universal reading, between strength and fragility, making the invisible visible.

Artistic approach
Artistic approach
The work of David Dzagnidze is part of a sensitive exploration of humanity, on the border between figuration and abstraction. Trained at the National Academy of Fine Arts in Tbilisi, he developed an artistic practice rooted in a solid mastery of drawing and composition, which he also transmitted for many years as an art teacher. His painting questions the body as a space of memory and transformation. The figures, often fragmented or tense, become territories of expression where complex inner states are revealed: fragile balance, movement, introspection. Color and gesture occupy a central place in his work. Through an expressive pictorial writing, he uses contrasts and matter to translate emotions, rather than to represent reality. In parallel, his watercolors extend this research by exploring a more refined and symbolic dimension. The organic forms, textures, and recurring elements — such as drops or spheres — evoke fragments of emotions, traces of life, or invisible presences. His work thus puts the visible and the invisible, the body and its memory, matter and emotion into dialogue. Each work becomes a space of resonance, inviting a reading that is both intimate and universal.
Artist statement
The work, in their own words
Make visible what, within us, remains invisible. At the border between figuration and abstraction, I paint the inner tensions, the silent emotions, and the traces that life leaves within us.
